Most users are quite happy to use the new version ahead of the definitive user guide appearing, and those of us who prefer to wait until more extensive instructions are available can simply hold back on upgrading. Macrium could have delayed the release of v8 until they had the full user guide available, but that would have resulted in further delay all round. But in the world we're living in right now, in the middle of a pandemic, it was never going to happen. But some servers need better full backups.Seems to me it would make more sense to always include a new complete User Guide with the release of a new product version instead of an afterthought done "when we get some free time".Īs a paying customer, not happy about this. Usually I'd pair Macrium with a CDP backup program like Genie9 so that I'd have both a full image backup plus could spot-grab files for recovery (sometimes along with a network trashcan app for stuff like file servers, for convenience). This is a feature I've been wanting for a long time & have just been doing manually. Intra-daily backups, which is basically super-fast backups on a very regular basis. SUPER nice for photo & video people, especially if you want a full clone of a wedding shoot or something critical.Ĥ. Very handy when cloning to drives of different physical sizes & not having to futz with doing it manually.ģ.
The automatic partitioning resizing is a nice feature. It's easy enough to install Hyper-V on Windows 10 FWIW.Ģ.
Very useful for when a server crashes or when you need to get specific types of data from an old backup that can only be had from a running OS. I've used the Hyper-V version in the past & it's quite good. VirtualBox for emergency booting is a nice addition.
